GENE SUMMARY |
---|
The protein encoded by this gene is expressed on the surface of T cells. It regulates B cell function by engaging CD40 on the B cell surface. A defect in this gene results in an inability to undergo immunoglobulin class switch and is associated with hyper-IgM syndrome. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008] |
OBSERVATIONS |
---|
Complication | Evidence | PMID |
Nephropathy | 1. Persistently increased sCD40L levels from the onset of diabetes might help to identify those normotensive and normoalbuminuric young patients at increased risk of developing incipient nephropathy later in life. | 18756582 |
Cardiovascular | 1. We assessed at baseline, at the end of Phase A, and at the end of Phase B the levels of some new emerging biomarkers of cardiovascular risk includinghigh sensitivity C-reactive protein (Hs-CRP), adiponectin (ADN), tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha), interleukin1beta (IL-1beta), myeloperoxidase (MPO), soluble CD40 ligand (sCDL40). | 26223257 |
