GENE SUMMARY |
---|
This gene encodes a secreted, 16 kDa protein that acts as a chemotactic factor to neutrophils and stimulates the growth of chondrocytes and osteoblasts. This protein has high sequence similarity to the chondromodulin repeat regions of the chicken myb-induced myeloid 1 protein. A polymorphism in this gene may be associated with rheumatoid arthritis. OBSERVATIONS |
---|
Complication | Evidence | PMID |
Retinopathy | 1. These findings indicated that serum LECT2 level is negatively associated with the presence of DR and suggest that low circulating LECT2 level is a risk factor for DR. | 27816666 |
Insulin resistance and inflammation | 1. The level of phosphorylated c-Jun N-terminal kinases (JNK) was significantly increased by LECT2 treatment in HUVECs (Human umbilical vein endothelial cells) and THP-1 cells, an effect that was not seen in cells treated with CD209 siRNA, a known LECT2 receptor. | 26123523 |
