GENE SUMMARY |
---|
This gene encodes a member of the TNF receptor superfamily of proteins. The encoded receptor is found in membrane-bound and soluble forms that interact with membrane-bound and soluble forms, respectively, of its ligand, tumor necrosis factor alpha. Binding of membrane-bound tumor necrosis factor alpha to the membrane-bound receptor induces receptor trimerization and activation, which plays a role in cell survival, apoptosis, and inflammation. Complication | Evidence | PMID |
Nephropathy | 1. Association of TNFR1 with markers of systemic inflammation and adipose stress indicates that TNFR1 may be a biomarker of these processes as components of the pathogenesis of diabetic kidney disease. | 29122448 |
Insulin resistance and inflammation | 1.TNFR1 (TNFRSF1A) knock-out (TNFR1 KO) mice are protected from diet-induced obesity due to increased thermogenesis. | 19858212 |
