GENE SUMMARY |
---|
The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the Zfh1 family of 2-handed zinc finger/homeodomain proteins. It is located in the nucleus and functions as a D-binding transcriptional repressor that interacts with activated SMADs. Mutations in this gene are associated with Hirschsprung disease/Mowat-Wilson syndrome. Altertively spliced transcript variants have been found for this gene.[provided by RefSeq, Jan 2010] |

Nephropathy | 1. Growth hormone (GH)-dependent expression of a tural antisense transcript induces zinc finger E-box-binding homeobox 2 (ZEB2) in the glomerular podocyte.Growth hormone (GH) excess in structural and functional changes in the kidney and is implicated as a causative factor in the development of diabetic nephropathy (DN)." We speculate that the actions of GH on ZEB2 and P- and E-cadherin expression play a role in the pathogenesis of microalbuminuria of DN | 20682777 |
